
Dr. Arthur Darby III
Founder & CEO of Unity in the Community
Dr. Arthur Darby is a respected Sociologist, ordained minister, and nonprofit executive with a distinguished career in community service, ministry, and veteran advocacy. As the Founder and CEO of Unity in the Community Nonprofit, he has led initiatives providing transitional and affordable housing for over 200 veterans annually in the Washington, DC area. His work has also established Prince George’s County’s first Full-Service Center for Veterans and Unity Academy, a workforce training institution that has placed over 200 graduates in jobs both locally and internationally.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Dr. Darby served as a Chaplain Captain, providing trauma-informed care to over 5,000 military personnel and advising leadership on religious, ethical, and moral issues. His deployments to Qatar, Iraq, and Kuwait earned him the Medal of Joint Commendation for ministering to over 1,000 joint military members.
With over 15 years in ministry, Dr. Darby has served as a Youth Pastor, Theology Instructor, and Discipleship Leader, bringing a unique blend of faith, education, and leadership development to his work. He is a published author in theological circles and currently serves as an Elder and Non-Governmental Organization Director at The Ramp Church DMV. His ministry spans the U.S., Pakistan, and Brazil, emphasizing faith, leadership, and self-sufficiency for underserved communities.
Dr. Darby holds a B.A. in Sociology & Anthropology from Morgan State University, an M.S. in Criminal Justice & Public Administration from Liberty University, and an M.Div. in Theology from Liberty School of Divinity. His academic journey culminated in a Doctorate in Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary, with his dissertation on community-building featured in a theological publication. Additionally, he completed Duke University’s Christian Leadership Cohort, earning an Innovation Grant to launch a discipleship and workforce development program during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A dedicated advocate for veteran affairs, education, and leadership development, Dr. Darby continues to drive impact through nonprofit initiatives, theological scholarship, and community engagement.
